Dear Melissa,
I didn't think it would take so long to get the weekend's photographs all processed and printed, and I made the mistake of waiting until I was finished with all of them before I printed these for you ... so that's why it has taken two weeks to thank you for your hospitality, and to tell you how wonderful we found the campground.
Like many adults of a certain age (let's just say over 50), we camp a lot less than we used to; perhaps it's that creaky feeling in the joints upon awakening on the cold, cold ground, or the awkward fumbling with the Coleman stove in order to make that all-important first cup of coffee. Of course, the trade-off of hotel sheets and room service is the loss of early morning scenes of misty mountains, only possible from up close and at ground level...
But now, y'all have the pop-up campers, and that is a compromise we can manage; we've been trying to buy one for a few years now, but things like siding for the house, paint for the basement rooms, and, most importantly, college tuition keep coming up instead ...

So, it was a delight to hear about Jonica Gap Campground, and we had a great weekend. Being close to the Ocoee River, to Chattanooga, and to the Blue Ridge area puts you in the middle of some of the finest country we can get to inside a day's drive from home in Middle Tennessee. Besides its location, the campground is beautifully contrived and painstakingly maintained. (Raking the leaves out of a campsite before an arrival goes above and beyond normal maintenance, futile as it was in late October.)
I'd like to be able to say when we'll be back, but life right now is too unpredictable to plan our next weekend vacation. Be assured, however, that we love the mountains in early spring, and camping (even semi-camping), is the way to go. If, by some miracle (read "miracle lottery ticket"), we have our own pop-up by then, we know you have some really nice places to park it .. .if not, we like sleeping in yours ...
I hope you like the photos; they are of places in the campground that are easily recognizable, and don't have people in them ...
Well, many thanks again for your hospitality, And I'm sure we'll see you again.

My girlfriend and I spent Memorial Day weekend at Jonica Gap Campground. We booked the Coleman Pop-Up. The campsite was awesome and clean and also very quiet. The owners are great people. They will help you with whatever they can. They even dried our sheets in their dryer after we accidentally left the popup windows open while it rained.
For those of you who like to cook, and let's say you might have left something behind when making your trip, the owners have an herb garden that they were willing to share seasonings from. They had FIVE of the 5 essential herbs you need to cook with!
The Coleman Popup that we rented there has a gas range burner that works very well. We could not bring our grill due to the size but the Pop-Up's stove did the job well. AND you dont even need to bring
plates, pots or pans, etc.. The Pop-Up is stocked with everything you are going to need.
To sum it up, the place is fantastic, we will be back.

Hi! We came on our motorcycle during the Memorial Day weekend and had a great time! We thought we'd stay for one night, left to find another location but after a few hours realized we wanted to come back to the Jonica Gap family. We had such a great time and cannot wait to get back! We haven't stopped talking about y'all yet! See you soon!

Hey y'all! I was up there this past weekend with my girl and a few friends. I just wanted to let you know how much I LOVE your campground! We will definitely be back! It's so peaceful, quiet, green, clean, plus y'all are sweethearts!
Have a great week, and I will most definitely see you again soon!

We camped at Jonica Gap Campground the week of July 1 of 2007, and what a wonderful place we discovered! We had originally reserved two nights, but upon arrival, quickly decided to book the entire week.
Jonica Gap Campground is tucked away in the beautiful wooded area in the Georgia mountains. The campground was well-planned, with great sites, several of which were right next to a wonderful creek....very lovely to listen to at night. The sites are spaced right, and the campground is not so large that you would ever feel crowded.
There are many special touches and features throughout, including two ponds with benches and chairs, horseshoes, a screen house and grill, nice landscaping and flowers, and a campstore stocked with essentials perhaps forgotten and niceties like games, books, and herbal teas. Firewood and ice are also sold, thankfully, as we went through quite a bit during the course of the week. Clean bathhouses with sinks and hot showers were another great amenity.
What made the stay special for us, though, were the campground hosts and owners, Melissa and Paula. Their friendliness, accommodation, and personal attention to us and the care given to the campground were appreciated and noted. There is certainly something to be said about private campgrounds, and in this case, Jonica Gap Campground proved to be a gem. The beauty, care, and devotion given to the campground shows in every detail. They put their hearts into it, and it shows. We not only had a fantastic time, we feel we gained lifetime friends.

We just want to say thank you, Melissa and Paula, for everything you guys have done to make our stay at the campground enjoyable.
Brayden and Hunter absolutly love camping at Jonica Gap Campground. It is a wonderful place especially if you have children. It is hard to keep a 6 and 4 year old happy on vacation but this is one vacation that they were happy the whole time. The boys have a great time with Melissa feeding the fish and talking to her.
We take the boys to Lake Blue Ridge and the park which is only about 15 minutes away from the campground.
The showers at the campground are kept clean with hot and cold water. The bathrooms are also kept clean. We have camped here for the past 2 years the week of July 4th and we will continue to come and celebrate our family vacation.
Melissa and Paula have done a great job with the campground and every site.

Thanks for a very quiet and much needed relaxing weekend. It is well worth the hour and a half ride from metro Atlanta. We had a blast up there as we did last time, our only problem was my air mattress wouldn't hold air...but that's ok.
We can't wait to come back up, but we have to that WORK stuff to do for a little while before we can..All the guys say hello!
Thanks again,
Andy in Marietta Ga.
Thanks so much for your hospitality this past weekend. Neither my fiance or I had been camping in years but we had a great time and plan to return ASAP! Your property and facilities are fantastic, you obviously take great pride in what you do. We'll definitely recommend your campground to friends and family looking for a peaceful escape. Thanks again!
